The Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD) provides a wide range of accessible services, primarily in British Sign Language (BSL), and advocates for the rights and inclusion of the Deaf community.

Key Services 

  • Advice and Advocacy: RAD provides support with complex issues like employment, benefits, housing, discrimination challenges, and healthcare access. Its advocates ensure that deaf people's views are considered in important decisions and legal matters.
  • Interpreting Services: RAD offers professional BSL/English interpreters, Deafblind interpreters, lipspeakers, and note-takers.
  • Children, Families, and Youth Support: Through its "YouthAdvance" service, RAD offers activities, mentoring, and support groups to build confidence, life skills, and reduce social isolation for deaf children and young people.
  • Community Development: RAD delivers a range of support groups and activities for the community to meet.
  • Training and Consultancy: RAD offers training courses in BSL and Deaf Awareness for the public and organisations. It also provides accessibility consultancy services to help businesses become more inclusive and improve their customer experiences for deaf individuals.
