Active Way

The Active Way is the Council's Active Travel Social Prescribing Team helping residents walk, wheel and cycle more for everyday short journeys, health and wellbeing.

Active Way

Active Way work with individuals and organisations to help set clear goals to help people walk, wheel and cycle more for everyday short journeys, health and wellbeing.   They triage referrals into a range of walking, wheeling and cycling activities based on individual needs, abilities, availability and location.

If they can’t offer activities directly, they have a directory of other groups and activities in the district which could help.   Walking, wheeling and cycling are a great way to help increase physical activity levels, improve or maintain mobility, meet new people and explore new areas.  They want to help people build strength, confidence and ability to provide more choices when moving, be that for everyday short journeys to the shops, to meet people, attend appointments, for health and wellbeing or to just enjoy being outdoors.

Age Criteria 16 - 75+, BANES residents with long term conditions (physical and mental health), people in deprived areas, people from underrepresented groups, disadvantaged groups (Older people and Women)
