Healthwatch B&NES is inviting views on NHS Health Checks
The NHS Health Check for adults aged 40–74 is a free 5 yearly check up on overall health that can identify people at a higher risk of developing diseases including: heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and stroke, and help them to take steps to reduce their risk and prevent disease.
Looking across B&NES, take up of the Health Check is lowest among those at the younger end of the eligibility range, particularly men, individuals from minority ethnic groups and people living in less well-off neighbourhoods.
Alongside public health efforts to better target the offer of NHS Health Check to groups with low uptake, Healthwatch is engaging the public to understand their awareness of and access to the Health Check. What are the barriers to attending the Health Check and what would make it easier?
The survey is open until Monday 12 January.
